Hey everyone,

PYOR is an on-chain data analytics company specializing in crypto research and analytics. We are seeking treasury funding to develop PolkaPulse, a comprehensive DeFi dashboard that will track and visualize parachain activities across the Polkadot ecosystem.

This proposal has been shaped through extensive community engagement, including discussions with @Tommi from OpenGov, @Pavla from Parity Data, and @Eric from Distractive.

To best serve the community, we believe Subsquare is the ideal platform for this proposal. It also streamlines the process for us, so we are submitting this as a treasury proposal.

Our proposed dashboard will provide clear, data- visualisations to help users discover Defi opportunities.
Detailed information about our proposal can be found in the following resources:

  • Full Proposal
  • Proposal Presentation
  • Polkassembly Discussion
  • Polkadot Forum Thread
  • AAG #204 Presentation Recording

Looking forward to your feedback and support! 🚀

Project Summary

PYOR is building PolkaPulse, a unified parachain-level data platform for 10 key parachains. It will feature two types of metrics:

  • General Metrics to compare parachains at a glance.
  • Key Metrics for deeper insights into individual parachains.

PolkaPulse aims to help existing users track DeFi growth and opportunities while also making it easier for new users to onboard into the Polkadot ecosystem. By providing clear, actionable data visualisation, we believe this dashboard will make the ecosystem more accessible, transparent, and engaging for everyone.

Timeline: 5 Months
Requested Funding: USDC 78,000

Motivation

Despite Polkadot's growing ecosystem, users lack a unified analytics platform that captures both ecosystem-wide metrics and parachain-specific KPIs. Current tools provide fragmented insights, failing to capture the unique value propositions of individual parachains—whether in DeFi, DePIN, RWA, or BTCfi.
Each parachain's success metrics are distinct: Acala thrives on trading volumes and staking, Interlay on active loans, and Peaq Network on user adoption. To address this fragmentation, PYOR proposes PolkaPulse—an all-in-one analytics platform combining ecosystem-wide indicators with parachain-specific metrics.

Details of Proposed Dashboard

Our proposed Dashboard majorly will consist of 2 products hosted live on a single user-facing interface. These 2 products / Dashboard are

1. Parachain activity dashboard

  Key Metrics by Parachain:

  • Acala: Swap volume, DOT staking, aSEED token circulation, active addresses, fees, transactions, XCM messages.
  • Astar: Transaction count, unique addresses, dApp staking TVL, ASTAR staking ratio, fees.
  • Bifrost: Active addresses, liquid staking TVL, stable swap TVL & volume, fees.
  • Centrifuge: Tokenized assets, outstanding loans.
  • Hydration Chain (DEX): Liquidity pool TVL, swap volume, trading volume, active LPs, fees, unique users.
  • Interlay: Active addresses, vault collateral, outstanding loans.
  • Moonbeam: Active addresses, locked assets, transaction count, fees, collateral.
  • Pendulum: Transfers, active addresses, total holders, fees.
  • Peaq Network: Machine count, user count, transactions.
  • Asset HUB: Active accounts, events, transfers, signed extrinsics, XCM messages.

  General Metrics for all parachain:

  • Active accounts (Daily, Monthly, Cumulative)
  • Events (Daily, Monthly, Cumulative)
  • Transfers (Daily, Monthly, Cumulative)
  • Signed Extrinsincs (Daily, Monthly, Cumulative)
  • Downwards & Upwards xcmmsg

2. Parachain Defi Yield opportunity dashboard

Initially, we will be covering five key networks: Polkadot, Moonbeam, Astar, Bifrost, and Acala. The dashboard will track opportunities across Lending, DEX Liquidity Pools, and Liquid Staking.

Our proposed protocol list is here:

  • Moonwell
  • Stellswap
  • Starley finance
  • Bifrost liquid staking
  • Beefy Finance
  • Acala swap
  • Frax Finance
  • Prime protocol

During the first 2 weeks sprint we will work with para chain teams to find and list out more opportunities and will adjust the list according to that.

Conclusion

Our proposal addresses a key gap in the Polkadot ecosystem through two core dashboards: Parachain Activity and DeFi Yield Opportunities. These will provide real-time, parachain-specific data and DeFi analytics in a unified platform. During the initial two-week sprint, we'll collaborate with parachain teams to optimize metrics, aiming to facilitate informed decision-making and drive ecosystem growth.

Feedback

Through our community discussions, we received strong alignment and addressed key considerations:

  • Regarding Moonbeam Smart Contract Metrics - While our current focus is DeFi analytics, we're open to incorporating smart contract activity metrics pending direct endpoint access from the Moonbeam team.

  • For Data Visualization - We'll implement intuitive charts for most data points to ensure accessibility for all user levels.

We remain receptive to ongoing community feedback on visualization preferences.
If you have any suggestions, questions, or thoughts, feel free to share them.

Update from AAG #206 Call on PolkaPulse Proposal

Hey everyone, sharing a quick update from today’s AAG call where we addressed two key questions and made clarifications to our proposal:

1️⃣ Web Traffic Data for Past Projects – We were asked about traffic data for our previous dashboards. For macro projects like the Arbitrum RWA Dashboard, we don’t own the URLs, as the data is delivered directly to the respective teams. Additionally, our dashboards are more specialized, focusing on niche analytics, so they naturally attract targeted users rather than mass traffic, unlike large aggregators like CoinMarketCap or DeFiLlama.

2️⃣ Inclusion of Hydration – During the AAG call, we mistakenly mentioned that our DeFi chain selection was based on advice from Parity—we want to clarify that this was not the case. After further review, we’ve decided to include Hydration in our proposal, alongside Acala, Moonbeam, and additional chains.

📌 Yield Opportunity Dashboard Update:
Users will be able to select a token (e.g., USDC/USDT) and compare yield opportunities across different parachains, including categories such as lending, borrowing, liquid staking, and liquidity provision (LP yield), with data available across various timeframes (1D, 1W, 1M, 1Y, 3Y, etc.).

We will update the proposal accordingly. Thanks to the community for the valuable feedback! 🚀

Hey @vonyi,

Thanks for your reply both here and on the TG chat.

I understand your concerns about – the value, or lack thereof, of a DeFi dashboard, the prevalence of alternative data partners, and the fragmentation of data. Let me address them individually:

  1. Value of the dashboard: PolkaPulse is a set of two different dashboards. The first is a general overview dashboard of Polkadot's Parachains. This provides a single place for the community to compare parachains based on general metrics (like TVL, active users, volume, etc.) and a way for users to measure the health of a protocol with parachain-level metrics. The second is a DeFi yield opportunity dashboard to guide users about where to deploy their idle funds to earn passive yield.

We believe – PolkaPulse extends beyond a DeFi dashboard. Yes, it has a DeFi yield component and a general overview component.

  1. Data partners: Yes Polkadot has data partners – Dune, DeFillama, and TokenTerminal however, these either – provide chain level, not parachain level metrics (Dune), or do not integrate substrate data well (DeFillama), or help in distribution to Bloomberg, MarketVector and CoinbaseSMA (TokenTerminal) but does not focus on making insights actionable for Polkadot users.

Additionally, these platforms cover multiple chains with no dedicated branding, visibility, or tailored analytics for Polkadot. In contrast, PolkaPulse is designed to be ecosystem-first, bridging these gaps by integrating Substrate-specific data and surfacing insights in a way that benefits parachain teams and users directly.

  1. Fragmentation: We understand that the upcoming central smart contract chain could change the landscape of liquidity. If fragmentation remains, tracking liquidity movements and yield opportunities across parachains will be even more essential. To ensure accuracy + transparency, we will work directly with parachain teams to secure API endpoints, reducing data lag and maintaining transparency.

We want to build something the community truly finds valuable. What changes would you suggest that could make this proposal more aligned with your vision for Polkadot’s analytics ecosystem?

If there’s a way we can adjust our approach to gain your support, we’d love to explore that.
